Festival Of Trees Preview

Happy Thanksgiving!

We all hope that you all have a great turkey day, and that you can join us on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for the Kennedy Krieger Festival of Trees. This is our biggest display of the year, and we had a ton of fun last year. Be sure to come down and check us out, plus all the procedes go to a great cause. And new this year, we're doing Storytime with Wildlife Adventures in the Cozy Corner, so be sure to look on the entertainment schedule and stay for storytime.
Here are a few sneak preview photos of the display, plus the fun we had setting it up. Be sure to check back on the blog all weekend, to see if maybe we put up a picture of YOU!

A snowball fight with fake snow!

Jump right in, the snow is fine.

Here's a sneak peek at what we have in store for this weekend. Come see the rest for youself, you won't be disapointed!

Wow! That's a BiG Tortoise.

A few weeks ago Karen gives me a call with a large tortoise she wants to donate to our program. An African Spur Thighed Tortoise that is about 15 years old. I know they can get big so I inquire as to the weight. About 75 lbs, Karen tells me. Now most folks over estimate the size and weight of the animals they want to donate by at least 2 feet and 20 lbs. So I pack up my largest carrier which holds two large Rouen Ducks comfortably and head to Baltimore.

I get out of the truck and the first words out of my mouth are, "Wow! That's a BiG Tortoise." She won't fit in my carrier so she roams the back of my SUV on the ride home.

In the past 18 years I have never seen one this big! Her name is Pepe but my daughter is calling her Mabel. She is at least 75 lbs and gorgeous. See for yourself.

Stay tuned for more pics and quips about the animals of Wildlife Adventures!!!

Check This Out!

We found this dusty, old film in our attic, and we thought we'd share it with everyone. If you like it, e-mail us and let us know, and we'll see if we can dig up some more.
